Student Veterans

If you're a student veteran, your GI Bill and the VA may be able to help you pay for your time abroad.

If you plan to use this funding, you may need to take program type into consideration. There will be some requirements for each, for example, the program might need to be approved by both our office and the VA office. Some will have monthly allowances, some might pay just for tuition and academic fees. Often times, travel costs and insurance won't be included. Check with the UK Veterans Resource Center for more information on how to use your VA funding.

Typically Funded Program Types:

  • Exchanges
  • Direct Enroll Programs
  • Faculty-Directed Programs

One program type you won't be able to use your funds on is a third-party program, so ones that are created by UK partners or consortia members. This includes providers such as KIIS, ISA, COST, CIEE, and more. This doesn't mean you can't go on these programs, it just means you may have to fund your program in a different way.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our office or the UK Veterans Resource Center!
