EAP 599

What is EAP 599?

EAP 599 stands for Education Abroad Program 599 and is a 1 credit hour UK course in Canvas. It prepares you for your experience abroad and how to make the most of it. Topics include how to surf the cultural waves, career integration, and reflection on your experience.

What else?

EAP 599:

Maintains your full-time student status at UK
Is required for financial aid and scholarships
Applies a 1 credit hour tuition spending cap on your UK tuition for select summer/winter programs.
- Example: You're taking 6 credit hours of study abroad and 1 credit hour of EAP 599 over the summer. You'll only be charged for 1 credit hour of tuition.

Can I opt out?

EAP 599 is required for all undergraduate students. There is no option to opt out.

Graduate students can choose to opt out, but opting out makes you ineligible for UK scholarships or financial aid and you may pay more in tuition.

Registering for EAP 599

You don't need to register for this course on your own. Our office will enroll you in the course.

However, you must remain in good academic standing and have no holds on your UK Account in the 4-6 months leading up to departure. If we cannot register you in EAP 599, UK may drop you from your study abroad program and you may owe significant financial penalties to UK and/or our partner providers.

Requirements for EAP 599

It's your responsibility to complete requirements by their deadlines. If you don't complete all of the requirements, you will fail the course.

You will be enrolled in EAP 599 for both semesters in which you’re abroad, and you will need to complete the course content and assignments on Canvas both semesters.

The Education Abroad Office will enroll you in this course. If you do not see the course on Canvas, please contact the Education Abroad office.
In order to Pass EAP, you must complete all course assignments on Canvas.
For each semester you’re abroad, all course requirements need to be completed by the end of the UK term in which you’re abroad (this will most likely be a different date than when your program ends).
